The Last Lecture

Here's an 85 minute investment that will be well worth your while.

"Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. "

Check out the The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch at the link to the right. A classic in "perspective." See, there are good things still happening in academia . . .

"I have not yet begun to fight!"

This summer, Ocean Technology Foundation will continue its search for the remains of the American Revolutionary Warship Bonhomme Richard off the coast of Flamborough Head, England. Bonhomme Richard, acquired by Benjamin Franklin from the King of France, and commanded by Captain John Paul Jones, sunk off Flamborough Head after a fierce battle with HMS Serapis in September 1779. When asked by the captain of Serapis to surrender, Jones replied, "I have not yet begun to fight!" Jones and his crew fought on to capture Serapis. Bonhomme Richard sunk the following day due to damage sustained in the battle. Locating the Bonhomme Richard would be the greatest find in U.S. Navy archaeological history. To learn more about the search and the Battle of Flamborough Head, visit Ocean Technology Foundation. I can hear John Paul Jones calling from his crypt at the U.S. Naval Academy, "I have not yet begun to search!"

Look in on the activities of today's USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6), an amphibious assault ship homeported in San Diego, California and currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf.
